Landgate has been recognised as an industry leader twice in recent weeks winning an award for an innovative web-based tool and highly recommended for its Firewatch Indonesia (Indofire).
Indofire was officially recognised at the Western Australian Spatial Excellence Awards 2010 (WASEA) where it was highly commended in the Spatially Enabling Government Award, at the WASEA award ceremony held in Perth.
Lands Minister Brendon Grylls said IndoFire, a unique and innovative online graphical fire monitoring service, generates invaluable information for the whole of Indonesia.
"This fire monitoring system detects and monitors forest and peat land fires, hotspots and smoke haze, providing data on point-of-origin and fire speed and direction. This enables early detection of fires, leading to their suppression," Mr Grylls said.
"The technological advances from Indofire are also improving Landgate's Firewatch system in WA and across Australia.''
Indofire was first recognised in March this year when it won the export category at the Western Australia Information Technology and Telecommunication Awards.
Landgate was also acknowledged for its contribution to the HealthTracks-Spatially Enabling Health Intelligence Project, which won the Spatially Enabling Government Award.
HealthTracks is an innovative web-based tool that draws on WA Department of Health, clinical, population and related data through Landgate's SLIP enabler.
Information provided through Health Tracks assists those responsible for the delivery of health programs.
Landgate Chief Executive Mike Bradford commended the WA Health Department who had led the Health
Tracks project and Landgate staff and others who had worked on the project which will benefit Western
Australians' health outcomes.
Landgate is Western Australia's primary source of land information and geographic data, providing the accuracy government, business and individuals rely on.
