Landgate is set to assist a tiny Kingdom nestled high in the Himalayas where happiness is an official government goal.
Bhutan, a mountainous Kingdom North-East of India, is to be resurveyed using the latest satellite technology.
The assistance of Landgate is being considered because of its role as a world leader in land administration and its expertise with the use of the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) for surveying in difficult areas.
A four member delegation from the Bhutan National Land Commission has come to Perth to discuss whether Landgate experts can provide the necessary skills to implement the nation's revised land policy and guide improvements in its land administration system.
Most maps of the country are at least thirty years out of date and the Kingdom needs much more comprehensive data to support its national development plans.
Bhutan, often compared to the fabled Shangri-La, is the only nation in the world to have a Ministry of Happiness responsible for a Gross National Happiness Index.
Landgate is Western Australia's primary source of land information and geographic data, providing the accuracy government, business and individuals rely on.
