Property activity reflects steady upward trend

Landgate's October 2013 Business Activity Profile (BAP) released today revealed the number of document lodgements was 15.1 per cent higher than the three year average for the month.

Landgate Acting Chief Executive Jodi Cant said it was the highest property activity recorded for the month of October in four years.

"Total document lodgements increased by 20 per cent compared to September's figures, and by 12.4 per cent compared to October last year," said Miss Cant.

"There were increases in all types of document lodgements when compared to both September 2013 and October 2012, including transfers, mortgages and new lots created."

Of those new lots created, subdivisional lots were up 44.1 per cent from October last year, while strata lots were up 54.1 per cent.

"At the end of September, we reported the strongest first quarter recorded in four years, and October's figures continue to reflect bolstered enthusiasm in the market by holding this steady upward trend," she said.

The October 2013 BAP is available on Landgate's website. It provides the daily average of all documents lodged with sections detailing transfers, mortgages, caveats, searches and other categories of property related documents.
