Landgate's July 2013 Business Activity Profile (BAP), released today, shows a strong start to the 2013/14 financial year, with the highest recorded total document lodgement figures for a July in four years.
Landgate Acting Chief Executive Ian Hyde said he was encouraged by the data that showed July's property activity was 12.7 per cent higher than the five year average for the month.
"There was a 13.6 per cent increase in activity this month when compared to July last year, which equates to 3,748 more documents being lodged."
Mr Hyde said that 47.1 per cent of transfers occurred in the $200,001 - $500,000 price band, a total of 3,520 documents. Subdivisional lots and strata lots created in July had also increased from July last year, by 22.9 and 26.5 per cent respectively.
"Landgate's BAP figures showed a marked improvement in the property market throughout 2012/13," said Mr Hyde.
"The figures for the first month of the new financial year follow this trend, showing continued improvement in the market."
The BAP covers all property related documents lodged within Landgate and is a barometer of the state of the property market in Western Australia.
