Financial year-to-date document lodgement figures, released today in Landgate's February 2014 Business Activity Profile (BAP), support the improving trend in property activity in Western Australia.
The total number of documents lodged between July 2013 and February 2014 (236,089) has increased by 7.96 per cent or 17,403 documents more than compared to the same period in 2012/13 (218,686).
Landgate Chief Executive Mike Bradford said, "Total document lodgements for February were down compared to the previous month. However it is the year-to-date figures that reflect the improving trend we've seen in property activity for the past 12 months."
Mr Bradford said document search activity was also on the increase. The number of document searches in February 2014 increased by 16.98 per cent compared to the same time last year.
"While not every document search results in a sale or land transfer, it is an indicator of continued interest in the State's property market," Mr Bradford said.
The February 2014 BAP is available on Landgate's website. It provides the daily average of all documents lodged with sections detailing transfers, mortgages, caveats, searches and other categories of property related documents.
