Year-to-date figures released today in Landgate's May 2014 Business Activity Profile (BAP) reflect the continued improvement in total document lodgement activity this financial year.
The 2013/14 year-to-date total document lodgement figure is 327,054, an increase of 4.98 per cent when compared to the same period in 2012/13 (311,539).
The total number of documents lodged in May 2014 (32,748) increased by 11.92 per cent when compared to the previous month (29,261), however represented a decrease of 5.97 per cent when compared to May 2013 (34,828).
Landgate Chief Executive Mike Bradford said the year-to-date figure indicated an overall improvement in document lodgement activity since July 2013.
"For the first three quarters of this financial year, Landgate's BAP reports reflected consistent improvements in document lodgement activity, even when adjusting for the seasonal highs and lows in the property market," Mr Bradford said.
There were continued increases in new, subdivisional and strata lot creations in May 2014 when compared to the same month last year. Mr Bradford said that the bulk of survey plan lodgements that developers indicated would be received for lots sold by the end of the financial year, have been processed.
Landgate's Business Activity Profile covers all property related documents lodged within Landgate and is a barometer of the state of the property market in Western Australia.
The May 2014 BAP is available on Landgate's website. It provides the monthly total of all documents lodged with sections detailing transfers, mortgages, caveats, searches and other categories of property related documents.
