Landgate's Chief Information Officer (CIO) David Dans was awarded the prestigious 'CIO of the Year' at the 24th Western Australian Information Technology and Telecommunications Alliance (WAITTA) INCITE Awards, held on Friday 19 June 2015.
The award is in recognition of the State's leading CIO who has demonstrated excellence, innovation and substantial improvement of their organisation's Information and Communications Technology (ICT) systems and infrastructure.
On receiving the CIO of the Year award Mr Dans said, "This award is a great honour and recognises the whole IM team, the spirit of innovation at Landgate and reinforces the strategic path we are on."
"Landgate has great people and it shows that being prepared to do things differently, to challenge and learn, and most of all to stay focused on the customer, delivers results."
Landgate Chief Executive Mike Bradford said the award recognised Mr Dans' ability to drive change through technology and strong leadership.
"Landgate is at the cutting-edge of investing in new technologies that will make a difference to how we deliver better location information services to government, industry, business and the people of Western Australia," Mr Bradford said.
"David's skills and expertise have played an integral role in how our agency is adapting and preparing itself for the future as we face an ever-changing digital landscape, and I join all of Landgate in congratulating him on his achievements over the past year."
Landgate General Manager Finance, Information and Legal Services John Wreford commended Mr Dans' achievement stating, "This award attests to the courageous decisions made about the cloud, new sourcing models and changing culture."
The purpose of WAITTA INCITE Awards is to recognise outstanding performance and contributions by members of the ICT community across government and business in Western Australia.
