Landgate is sharing its knowledge about land administration with the Sri Lankan Government this month during a fellowship program involving eight participants.
The Sri Lanka Ministry of Lands employees are taking part in a four-week land administration Australia Awards Fellowship based at Landgate’s Midland building.
The Australia Awards Fellowship is funded by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) with the intention of building relationships and sharing knowledge and technical expertise with developing nations.
The fellows have a diverse range of skills in areas including valuation, land administration, registration, surveying and mapping.
Landgate Chief Executive Mike Bradford said the agency was looking forward to showing the fellows what Western Australia and the Midland community has to offer.
“Landgate is proud of its role as the guardian of property ownership in Western Australia,” Mr Bradford said.
“We provide a secure land titles system, impartial land valuation services and location information.
“We’re also leaders in public sector innovation. We have a dedicated Innovation Program and recently ranked 22nd on the Australian Financial Review Most Innovative Companies list.
“Not only is this a fantastic opportunity to share our expertise, we are looking forward to building professional relationships with the fellows.”
As well as undergoing training at Landgate, the fellows will tour a range of Swan Valley attractions, rehabilitation projects along the Swan River foreshore in Woodbridge, and heritage areas including the Midland Railway Workshops.
