Western Australia’s location and innovation hub SPUR, powered by Landgate has achieved a significant milestone with the launch of the first product to market under its start-up assistance program.
Landgate Deputy Chief Executive Jodi Cant said Western Australian start-up PropertySMS approached SPUR after learning about the services it offers to start-ups and entrepreneurs working on location based products and services.
“PropertySMS successfully applied for a SPUR developer’s licence which gave it access to Landgate datasets,” Ms Cant said.
“This data as well as assistance from SPUR business consultants helped PropertySMS accelerate its idea to develop an application that enables real estate agents to notify interested people via SMS of property sales in their area.
“The app allows agents to automatically send a personalised SMS to potential clients on their data base, there’s no need to collect sales data or type the message.
“This is a great example of a government agency working with the private sector to grow innovative ideas to further the economy.”
PropertySMS founder Ryan Norrish said SPUR had helped his business’ dream become a reality.
“SPUR’s business knowledge and support were invaluable and I’d highly recommend its programs to other start-ups looking to develop location based ideas,” Mr Norrish said.
