The level of activity in the Western Australian property market has reached its lowest point in more than a decade. New figures from Landgate reveal that the total documents lodged for December 2016 were the lowest in more than twelve years.
Landgate Acting Chief Executive Jodi Cant said that 2016 was a low year for property transactions.
“Total documents lodged at Landgate during December 2016 was down two per cent from November 2016 and down 12 per cent from the same period in 2015,” Ms Cant said.
“Although December continued the trend of 2016, it was expected that the level of activity would decrease as part of the holiday season in the property industry.”
The December BAP 2016 [PDF 1.0MB] is available on Landgate's website. It provides the monthly total of all documents lodged with sections detailing transfers, mortgages, caveats, searches and other categories of property related documents.
