The Midland community came together for Landgate’s 25th International Women’s Day (IWD) event.
Landgate’s Chief Executive Graeme Gammie said this year’s IWD theme ‘each for equal’ was a timely reminder that everyone is responsible for ensuring they are respectful and inclusive in their personal and professional lives.
“We all play a role in creating a more accepting society. Gender equality and diversity benefits us all – families, organisations, communities and the State.
“For 25 years, Landgate has been an active participant in the Midland community. I am proud that Landgate is a champion for diversity and the community we work in.”
Landgate was joined by keynote speaker Marissa Verma from Bindi Bindi Dreaming who shared her journey to achieving equality and success. As an Indigenous woman, Marissa experienced bullying early in her career.
“It made me pause and inspired me to start my own business. I work hard to inspire young girls to become future leaders. Hopefully they can lead without fear of prejudice or being judged along the way,” Marissa said.
Landgate’s beneficiary of the event was Koolkuna – a not for profit organisation that has helped thousands of women and children re-establish themselves in the community over the past 20 years.
CEO Robyn Fitall thanked Landgate and the City of Swan for hosting this event and naming Koolkuna as the beneficiary.
“I am so proud of what Koolkuna has achieved so far and hope this will continue for many more years to come.”
