2021 Strata Manager Returns
Amendments to the Strata Titles Act 1985 (STA), which took effect on 1 May 2020, introduced the requirement for strata managers to lodge a annual return to Landgate with general information about the schemes they manage. The first of these strata manager returns was completed in early 2022. An analysis of the information provided is published on the Landgate website here.
2022 Strata Manager Return required
The second strata manager return is due by 31 March 2023. The information to be provided in the return is required to cover the period of 1 January 2022 to 31 December 2022.
Please note, if you are not a strata manager or are a volunteer strata manager you do not need to complete a return.
Purpose of providing the return
Strata managers provide vital services to strata companies and schemes in Western Australia (WA). However, government is trying to improve its understanding of the size of this important industry and its value to the WA community and economy, together with the participants’ levels of expertise and qualifications.
The information that strata managers provide through these returns will be used to inform Landgate about the industry and to help government develop quality policies on matters relating to the strata management industry.
The form has been updated this year to contain a mix of statutory reporting requirements, which are mandatory, and industry reporting elements, which are voluntary. Landgate encourages strata managers to also complete the voluntary parts of the form as it will provide key information on the structure of the strata management industry.
It is essential strata managers complete these returns to ensure the WA Government can make well-informed decisions in the best interests of both strata professionals and strata consumers.
How to lodge the return
For the first time, strata managers will need to complete their return using an online form. This online form was developed following industry feedback and will make it quicker and easier for strata managers to complete and submit their return. The form can be accessed via this link - 2022 Strata Manager Return - and is also available on the Strata Forms page of the Landgate website under the “Other approved strata forms” heading. Strata managers will receive a confirmation email once it has been successfully submitted.
