How to apply

Before you apply, please read the job advertisement carefully. It’s important for you to feel confident that both the role and Landgate sound like a good fit for you.

Your initial application will determine whether you progress to the next stage of the selection process.

Make sure you read the advertisement carefully and follow the instructions for submitting your application. Usually this is done online via the WA Government Jobs Board.

Typically, we only ask you to upload a copy of your CV, but you may be asked to include a cover letter or complete a short online interview.

Your CV should:

  • Outline your education and training (including qualifications)
  • Reference your paid and unpaid work history
  • Highlight your most relevant experience and achievements
  • Ideally, include the names and contact details of two referees (your current or a recent line manager, who will be available to confirm your suitability for the role).

Please make sure we receive your application before the closing time. We can’t accept applications after the closing date. In some cases, we may close jobs early if a suitable field of applications are received.

Applicants are shortlisted

We complete an initial assessment of applications and draw up a shortlist of the most competitive applicants. If you are shortlisted, we will contact you and let you know what to expect next. If you have not been shortlisted, we will endeavour to let you know as soon as we can. There is always an opportunity to receive feedback at the end of every recruitment process.

Further assessment of shortlisted applicants

Depending on the role, we may use a variety of approaches to determine a candidate’s suitability for the job. Assessments may include a structured interview or a more informal meeting with the recruitment panel. In some instances, it may involve further processes. For example, we may ask you to participate at an assessment centre or in some form of testing to assist in determining your suitability for the job. We may also contact your referees during this stage.

Section 51 of the Equal Opportunity Act 1984 (EOA)

A recruitment decision is made

We evaluate all the evidence we have gathered and identify which candidate is the best fit for the job. Landgate then writes to all applicants confirming the final recruitment outcome.

Feedback is available to you

When you receive your letter about the outcome of the selection process, you are welcome to speak with the recruitment contact at Landgate for constructive feedback. All roles of six months duration or more are subject to a four-day breach period. This means any applicant who believes the Public Sector Employment Standard has been breached, can lodge a 'breach of standard' claim if they have been adversely affected by the decision.
